Autoaugmentation Mastopexy

Some women may hesitate to consider breast augmentation due to their reluctance to undergo breast implant surgery. However, what many are unaware of is that breast augmentation can involve utilising one’s own tissue to increase volume while lifting breast tissue. This technique is known as Autoaugmentation Breast Lift surgery at Medisculpt!

What is Autoaugmentation Mastopexy?

Autoaugmentation mastopexy is a specialised surgical procedure that combines a breast lift (mastopexy) with tissue repositioning techniques to enhance breast volume without using implants. This innovative approach involves reshaping and repositioning a woman’s existing breast tissue to create a fuller and more lifted appearance.

This procedure may be perfect for people who had implants for a long time and want to keep that lifted, fuller experience without them, or people who had problems with implants and want a more natural solution and do not want any future surgery. It is important to consider that you will have to accept that you will be smaller without implants and that there will be a period of adjustment. We use methods of reconstructive breast surgery to lift the breasts and fill the space where the implant was by utilising your own vascularised breast tissue, instead of an implant. Ultimately, this will give the breasts a more natural appearance.

Autoaugmentation mastopexy is a great option for women with ample breast tissue who want to enhance the appearance of their sagging breasts without losing too much size!

How does Autoaugmentation Mastopexy work?

An auto-augmentation breast lift shares many similarities with traditional breast lift procedures. Following a thorough evaluation and planning with our Surgeon, we will work to achieve symmetrical and voluminous breasts. Our surgeon typically will make an incision on the lower part of the breast, as these incisions tend to yield optimal long-term results. After removing the outer layer of excess skin and adjusting tissue, the surplus breast skin and tissue, typically discarded during a standard breast lift, are carefully repositioned within the breast. The tissue is then rearranged and secured in place with sutures to create a more youthful and rejuvenated breast appearance.

Is the Autoaugmentation Mastopexy procedure painful?

During your Autoaugmentation Mastopext procedure, you and your surgeon, Dr Helena Antoniadou, will discuss the procedure, the journey process and all the details in between. For our Autoaugmentation Mastopexy surgery, we use general anaesthesia. Overall, there will be no discomfort for you during the procedure, and it will reduce any riks of remembering any pain from the surgery. Ultimately, the most uncomfortable part of the surgery you will feel is the the moment the anaesthesia is performed.

What is the expected recovery for Autoaugmentation Mastopexy?

Patients post-surgery should anticipate some swelling bruising, dissolving sutures, and some scarring. It is important to keep the area dry for 2 weeks. A supportive bra must be worn for 6 weeks. Patients should avoid lifting/exercise for 6 weeks. It is also advised that you sleep on your back for the first week.
Post-surgery, it is normal for the breasts to look flat at the beginning, this is because it will take some time for breasts to reshape and regain roundness.

Is Autoaugmentation a day case or overnight procedure?

Our Autoaugmentation Mastopexy procedures at Medisculpt are a day case. This means that patients can typically return home the same day after the surgery. The procedure usually takes around 2-4 hours to be completed, allowing patients to recover in the comfort of their own home. However, it is possible for some patients and cases to require an overnight stay with drains. This will all be discussed with our surgeon, Dr Helena Antoniadou during your consultation and treatment plan!
